On Saturday 2/8/2020 at approximately 6:40 P.M. Yuba County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call of a possible accidental shooting victim injured in the 4800 block of Fruitland Road in Loma Rica.
Upon arrival, Deputies located an adult female with a gunshot wound to the leg, and a dog with a gunshot wound to the head, at the rear of a residence.
The deputies made contact with the suspect, identified as 37-year-old Scott Anderson of Loma Rica, in the driveway of the residence. Upon attempting to detain Anderson, he became combative with Deputies, but was ultimately taken into custody and booked into the Yuba County Jail for 245(a)(2)/Assault with a Firearm; 246.3PC/Negligent Discharge of a Firearm; 597(a)PC/Cruelty to Animals; and 69PC/Resisting Arrest.
The female victim was transported to the hospital by ambulance, and the dog was transported by
deputies to a local veterinarian for emergency treatment. The female and the dog are both stable and recovering. The shooting remains under active and ongoing investigation.
