California Water Service (Cal Water) supports an array of local organizations throughout the year as part of its ongoing commitment to improving the quality of life in the communities it serves. The company donated a total of $17,930 to local charitable organizations in 2016, with recipients ranging from community centers to homeless shelters, to health and educational foundations.
Cal Water’s Marysville District made a number of contributions either during the year or as part of Operation Gobble, the company’s Thanksgiving effort. The Marysville Elks Lodge, Twin Cities Rescue Mission, Saint John's Episcopal Church, Salvation Army, and Yuba County Senior Center each received contributions to make the holidays brighter for local residents in need.
Cal Water selected many local charities to support throughout 2016, including the Allyn Scott Youth & Community Center, Rideout Health Foundation, Hands of Hope, and Alzheimer’s Association. Sponsorship of community events included participation and contributions to the Yuba Sutter United Way River Run, City of Marysville Christmas Parade, and Mary Aaron Museum Historic Faire, among others. The funds were donated by the company’s shareholders as part of the company’s philanthropic giving program and not paid for by ratepayers.
In addition to providing monetary contributions, the leadership of Cal Water Marysville served the community through membership in local service organizations such as the American Water Works Association, Kiwanis Club, and the Rotary Club of Marysville. The company also contributed necessities to Yuba County’s 14 Forward program to help the homeless.
“Cal Water has a proud tradition of community involvement and contributing to strengthen and improve the communities we work to support all year long,” said Cal Water District Acting Manager Rosanna Marino. “I am pleased to continue this tradition in Marysville.”
Cal Water serves about 12,000 people through 3,700 service connections in Marysville. The company, which has provided water service in the area since 1930, was ranked “Highest in Customer Satisfaction among Water Utilities in the West” in 2016 by J.D. Power in its inaugural Water Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction Study. Additional information may be obtained online at www.calwater.com.
