Marysville Forgotten...I don't think so...

Judy Mann

For those of you that don’t do Social Media, there has been a lot of talk about Marysville lately about how it’s being forgotten and neglected Hey! Sorry but I must speak out, Time to give credit due to those who do deserve and may I remind you they are all active volunteers...

Thank you! Friends for the Preservation of Yuba County History/Cemetery Volunteers, the Help Ellis Lake Prosper Group, The Focus on Marysville Group and the Red Neck Yacht Club, these are groups that I know that currently and actively today working hard to improve Marysville... Thank you also to groups like Habitat for Humanity, The Veterans Park Group, The Elks Lodge and the Yuba College group that come out regularly to clean up our parks and lake... Don’t forget there's the individual merchant who have given up time to help with different events in the area by sponsoring or donating their time or an item while still running their business. I thank them all! Special Thanks go to The Mary Aaron Museum and the Chinese Community for opening regularly every month their doors up for visitors to see...

Yes! We have hidden "charms" here in Marysville and they should be shared with residents and visitors,, but yet, our biggest charm yet is our "History" yes, I agree some of our historic buildings have been long gone, yes, we have empty lots and store fronts, but people remember "No-One Can DESTROY Our History” it will always travel through time with us, even after we are long gone, only we can make it happen, we have so much documentation that we can share, oh so many stories to be told and photos to share. By sharing we educated, by educating only will our history continue to live.

We must stop blaming the city for faults of property owners who can't maintain the upkeep of their property. We as individuals should come together as a community, think of new ideas and share those ideas. Ideas are great, doing something is even better. So, if we act upon the ideas we can accomplish something.

The groups that I mentioned are the very same groups that are working today to preserve and share our history. Come out and volunteer, join the different organizations, come and support the local events, The Yuba College, Marysville High School, the Kiwanis, The Lions Club, Y-S Arts, Elks Lodge, the Churches, Yuba County Library, Allen Scott Youth Center, and the Marysville Art Club have events year-round, cone out and support these groups and thank them...I guarantee their event’s sponsor a great local cause ... We must work as a community... Wonders seem to happen for the good when we work together... I love the people here... I share, I live and I love the history that Marysville has....

So how can you help? Like I stated before Join a group, volunteer, attend a Council Meeting, write a letter to the editor.... become a living history docent, speak out at town hall meetings, share a bit of history, we want to hear from you...contact anyone of the groups or me, YOU are so "needed"...

Volunteer! Volunteer! Volunteer! My apology if I forgot to mention your group, and to the individuals that I see continuously picking up the trash at Ellis Lake Thank you! Thanks Again to all Volunteers and Supporters. Is Marysville Forgotten I don’t think so...
