John joined the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves in 1963, after active duty was complete he purchased a gas station in Carmichael California. " I enjoyed owning a gas station during the Jimmy Carter gas rationing episode", he said.
John closed the gas station in the mid 1970's and took a job managing the Montgomery Wards Automotive Center in Marysville.
John has lived and worked in Yuba County for more than 40 years. While living and working in Yuba County he has been: one of the founders of the Loma Rica/Browns Valley Community Service District (the Fire Dept.), a charter member of the Foothill Lions (34 years), a board member of the Browns Valley Irrigation District, a Yuba County Supervisor and owner of the Territorial Dispatch for 16 years and still going.
The desire to purchase the Territorial Dispatch was an interest in telling "The Rest of the Story". A responsibility under the 1st Amendment to be a "Watch Dog on Government", not a "Lap Dog".
The luncheon will be September 21 at the Hillcrest Catering. In the Plaza Room, 210 Julie Drive Yuba City Cost $16 for a buffet lunch starting at 11:30 am
