Current Supervisor for Sutter County’s District 2 and local businessman Dan Flores, recently announced his candidacy for re-election to the Sutter County Board of Supervisors. Flores was first elected to the Sutter County Board of Supervisors in 2014 and currently serves Chairman of the Board.
Flores is the President and Founder of Cambridge Junior College, a well-respected, private, accredited institute of higher learning in Yuba City.
Strongly supported by numerous local leaders and the business community, Flores has developed a reputation for being a leader who encourages participation and gets things done.
“Supervisor Flores represents our District and County with capability, commitment, compassion, and dedication,” said Yuba City Chief of Police (Ret.) Richard Doscher. “His decisions are always reflective of careful analysis and in the best interest of the citizens of our County”, he continued. “His actions always display a servant’s heart,” finished Doscher.
“Dan knows what it takes to make our County continue to prosper and grow,” said Tom Walther. “A fiscal conservative, Dan constantly looks for opportunities to consolidate, economize and reduce spending, which benefits every Sutter County taxpayer,” finished Walther.
Flores actively participates as a member of the following committees: Beale Military Liaison, Health & Welfare Committee, Redevelopment Oversight Board – Yuba City, CSAC, SACOG, Tri-County Juvenile Hall, Greater Sacramento, Economic Development, Yuba City/IRC, YCUSD Liaison Committee, Y-S Regional Leadership Committee/Homelessness, Ag & Public Protection (Alternate), Audit Committee (Alternate), Public Works (Alternate) and RCRC (Alternate).
“It has been the honor of my lifetime to serve the citizens of Sutter County’s District 2 on the Board of Supervisors for the past three years,” said Flores. “As you can imagine, there are dozens of challenging issues facing Sutter County and it would be a privilege to continue working towards discovering solutions to these challenges as your Supervisor,” he finished.
Dan has been married to his wife Tonya for 26 years and is the proud father of Jessica Flores, 18, a student at the University of San Francisco and Nathan Flores, 15, a student and athlete at Yuba City High School.
Supervisor Flores attended the University of San Francisco and Columbia University in New York City, Pre-Med, and holds a Bachelor Degree in Computer Information Systems Management. He is the former Chairman of the Board for Sutter North Medical Foundation, California Employer Advisory Council, Yuba-Sutter Economic Development Corporation, Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce, Yuba Sutter Fair Foundation, and has been the Director of Sutter County Workforce Investment Board and the Sutter North Valley Surgical Hospital and is involved in numerous community service organizations and projects.
