B-52 Operations in Southeast Asia
Retired Air Force Lt Col Doug Cooper and Maj Rich Williams will recount their experiences as SAC B-52 crewmembers during combat operations in Southeast Asia at the Thursday, March 29 luncheon meeting of the Military Officers Association of America at the Plaza Room, 210 Julie Drive, Yuba City. A social hour begins at 11 a.m., followed by lunch and the speakers at noon. The cost is $15 per person.
Our speakers will discuss the Arc Light and Linebacker missions levied on Air Force B-52s, and relate their own experiences as crewmembers. During Operation Arc Light, the United States deployed B-52s from bases in the U.S. to Guam to provide close air support to ground combat operations in Vietnam.
Operation Linebacker was a combined Air Force and Navy air interdiction campaign conducted against the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam) from 9 May to 23 October 1972, during the Vietnam War.
