Yuba City, City Council
Yuba City, Ca
Stacy Brookman, a longtime resident of Yuba City and small business owner has announced his candidacy for a seat on the Yuba City Council.
He moved to Yuba City in 1978 with his parents and attended Tierra Buena School and then Yuba City High School. He is the son of a career law enforcement officer and wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps. He pursued a career in law enforcement and worked for the Sutter County Sheriff’s Department for 13 years before sustaining a career ending injury.
In 2009 he was forced to medically retire from the Sutter County Sheriff’s Department. He now owns a successful private security business that, although based out of Yuba City, services clients up and down the Sacramento Valley.
Brookman wants to use the experience he has gained from working in government as well as private business and put it to work for the citizens of Yuba City. He believes we need to focus on economic development, public safety, repairing outdated infrastructure and continuing to move forward for a solution the area’s ever growing homeless problem.
“Bringing new businesses to the city will create jobs and increase revenues” said Brookman. He believes the long term solution to the cities’ money woes lies in economic development. “Whatever we have been doing, has not been working” Brookman continued when speaking of luring in new businesses.
Brookman also stated that he intends to donate back the net pay/stipend that he would receive from the council and donate it back quarterly to local non-profits beginning with the “Shop with a Cop” program that Brookman himself started when with the sheriff’s department.
