The annual Yuba-Sutter Winter Pow Wow will be held on February 17, 2018 at the Allyn Scott Youth Civic Center in Marysville, California. The one-day Yuba-Sutter Winter Pow Wow is organized by the Marysville Joint Unified School District’s American Indian Education Program and serves as a gathering place to see old friends and celebrate the culture of a diverse people.
Yuba and Sutter counties lack tribal land, but the Yuba-Sutter Winter Pow Wow draws participants and visitors from around Northern California. The opening of the event, Open Gourd, will take place at 12:00 noon followed by the Grand Entry to begin the dance session beginning at 1:00 p.m. The Pow Wow will end at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free.
The POW WOW is full of colorful Indian Dress with lots of fun dances and drum and team dance contests. All drums and dancers are welcome. There will be Craft and Food Vendors.
The Yuba-Sutter Winter Pow Wow is a family friendly event which does not support the use of recreational Tobacco. No smoking, No drugs or alcohol are permitted.
The event is on Saturday 11:00 am to 6:00 pm at Allyn Scott Youth and Community Center
1830 B Street, Marysville, Ca. The public is welcome and admission is free.
Pow Wow Ettiquette
Listen to the Master of Ceremonies, he coordinates the Pow Wow. He will announce when to stand, when men should remove their hats and when it is inappropriate to take pictures. If you want to take pictures, ASK the person whose picture you wish to take.
* Do not touch anyone’s Regalia without their permission.
* Do not cut across the Pow wow circle.
* No Smoking, No Alcohol, No Drugs.
