On March 12th and 13th 2019, Marysville Police Officers worked in conjunction with Investigators from the Contractor State Licensing Board to locate unlicensed contractors. The Licensing Board Investigators set up appointments with people suspected of doing business as contractors without being properly licensed. The individuals arrived at the predetermined location and provided a bid for service to be completed. The individuals were then detained and issued citations for violating various Business and Professions Codes.
With all the construction work needed in the area due to the Camp Fire, the Licensing Board has been receiving complaints of subjects completing work without a valid contractor license. Some of these complaints have involved subjects obtaining large down payments and then not completing the work, working without workers comp insurance and using someone else’s contractor license number.
The operation was conducted over a two day period and eight subjects were issued citations for violations surrounding not having a contractor license. One other subject was contacted and was found, for a second time, to be operating without having any workers comp insurance for his employees.
