Annual Youth Catfish/Trout Derby "Hooked on Fishing-Not on Drugs"

The Marysville Kiwanis Annual Youth Catfish/Trout Derby is Free and takes place Saturday, May 18, 2019 6:30-11:30 AM at Ellis Lake in Marysville, corner of 12th and D Streets.

There is a free Pancake Breakfast between 6:30-9:00 AM

Catfish and carp can be caught in Ellis Lake. A rainbow trout can be caught from tubs located next to the lake.

Prize drawing at 11:00 AM. must be registered & present to win.

Games and Activities; Bring your own poles and tackle; Hot dogs, sodas and bait available for sale.

The fishing derby was created by the Marysville Kiwanis Club to inspire the children of this community with an alternative choice to drugs. It was also created to provide a safe and fun venue for a family outing. About 1000 children and their parents participate each year.

Fishing Tackle Donation Program:

The Nor Cal Guides and Sportsmen's Association is collecting new and used fishing tackle/tackle boxes which will be reconditioned and distributed to area youth to encourage fishing.  You can donate equipment by calling Dale Whitmore at 530 635-0046. 

Marysville Kiwanis has sponsored this youth fishing program for the past 70 years at no cost to the participants.  If you would like to help sustain this program, you can make a donation to the Kiwanis Youth Fishing Derby,  P.O. Box 347, Marysville, CA 95901.

cutline: Ami Fleming of Yuba City is having a ton o' fish fun at the Kiwanis Youth Catfish Derby at Marysville's Ellis Lake. So far she has landed 4 huge catfish. What a swell day here at the lake. 93Q is once again out in the Q-munity.
