This year’s Penn Valley Rodeo will feature CCPRA Rodeo action with 4 Star Rodeo Livestock, Don and Anita Jesser will return as Pro Rodeo Announcers and top ten in the nation Pro-Rodeo entertainer JJ Harrison is back for year 2 as Rodeo Clown, Barrel man and half-time entertainment, returning this year also will be an encore performance by The Wild West Buckers.. The Rodeo Queens will be coronated on Friday night. There will be Muttin Busting and Calf Scramble each night and following the Rodeo a Dance with James Slack Band. New this year - Truckee’s favorite Bar B Que restaurant Smokey’s Kitchen will be cooking the vittles in the Cook House while NU Football Boosters serve up hotdogs and hamburgers, Ready Springs School will have pizza and other kid friendly foods, and don’t forget to get your slice of pie ala mode from Kare Crisis Nursery!
Each year there is a wide variety of vendors, food and drinks and of course a kid zone replete with a bounce house, pony rides, face painting and more – this event is fun for the whole family.
The Penn Valley Rodeo provides many non-profits an opportunity to earn money including Kare Crisis Nursery in the Pie Booth, Ready Springs School in the Snack Shack, The Penn Valley Chamber, Penn Valley Little League, 4-H and More. Proceeds from the Rodeo also go to support the Penn Valley Rodeo Scholarship program as well as many Youth in Ag programs.
Along with the Rodeo there is also an Old-Fashioned Hometown Parade on Saturday at 3 pm from Western Gateway Park to the Rodeo. And this year on Sunday there will be Breakfast in the Old Firehouse from 7:30 to 11am; Cowboy Church with the Hale Family and Friends; Muttin Busting at 10 am and Jackpot Roping at 11 am – there is no ticket required to join the fun on Sunday.
