Three male juveniles and a 21-year-old man were arrested over the weekend for their participation in a
drive-by shooting that occurred Friday night 5/10/19 in the 5700 block of Alicia Avenue in Olivehurst.
Yuba County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired in the area of Alicia
Ave and Kay St at approximately 7:40 p.m. No victims were located at the scene, but witnesses were able
to provide a description of the suspect vehicle and its’ four occupants.
Within minutes after the shooting, the Sergeant responding to the scene located a vehicle traveling east
on Erle Rd near Edgewater matching the description of the vehicle involved in the shooting, and conducted
a traffic stop on the car; a 2005 gray Honda Coupe. One of the passengers in the vehicle was in possession
of bullets, and a loaded handgun was found in the vehicle. The gun was determined to be stolen out of
Nevada. Detectives responded, and after further investigation, all four occupants of the vehicle were
identified as the suspects in the shooting and were arrested. The investigation into the motive and whether
or not the incident was gang related remains active and ongoing.
Arrested were a 17-year-old male from Linda, a 15-year-old male from Olivehurst, a 17-year-old from
Olivehurst, and 21-year-old Jorge Sotomayor-Sanchez of Olivehurst. All suspects were booked on charges
of 245(a)(2)PC/Assault with a firearm and 182PC/Criminal Conspiracy; with additional weapons charges
and 148.9PC/False Id to Officer for the 17-year-old from Linda; and weapons and drug possession charges
