Just before 10:00 p.m. on 12/2/2019, Yuba County Deputies responded to a 911 caller reporting his
neighbor was shooting a gun; and that a bullet had struck their home in the 3000 block of Feather River
Blvd in Olivehurst. Upon arrival, Deputies discovered a single bullet had hit the victims’ residence and
traveled through a wall into the home. The home was occupied at the time, but nobody was injured in the
The neighbor that had reportedly fired the shots was identified as 63-year-old Thomas Allen Sudderth
of Olivehurst. Sudderth was determined to be a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms or
ammunition. While deputies were at the scene, Sudderth exited his home next door holding a rifle.
Sudderth refused deputies commands and went back inside his residence.
Deputies established a perimeter around Sudderth’s home, and following several minutes of verbal
commands to come out, the suspect complied and exited his residence unarmed. Sudderth was found to be
intoxicated and was detained. Detectives responded and upon execution of a search warrant for the
suspect’s residence, located several guns and ammunition. Sudderth was arrested for 246PC/Shooting at an
Inhabited Dwelling, and being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition. He was booked into the
Yuba County Jail with a bail amount of $250,000.
