News From the Brownsville Bailiwick & Beyond

We have already had a couple of good storms come through and the air is cool and clean. I actually heard our trees give a deep sigh of relief. Let’s hope we have another wet winter.

The Foothill Fire Auxiliary Thrift Shop has been preparing for their annual Christmas Bazaar to be held on November 17 and 18 from 9 am to 4 pm. This is a great time to start your Christmas shopping as they have many wonderful bargains available, from Christmas decorations to furniture, clothing, etc. Get there early so you don’t miss a thing.

We have many shops and restaurants here in our beautiful foothill communities. Their owners work hard to bring convenience to each of us. As we all begin our Christmas shopping this season let us not forget our neighbors and friends who work hard to make a living up here while trying to keep us from having to go down the hill. We are blessed with gift shops, bookstore, hardware stores, grocery stores, coffee shop, restaurants and more. All of which hold treasures sure to make someone on your shopping list happy. Shop local and support our community businesses.

As the end of Daylight Saving Time had us changing our clocks again, we would love to see the end of that era. Did it really “save” us any time? We do use many timesaving devises, but we're not sure this is one of them. Arizona does not change time and that seems to work for them.

Look Back in Time – In 1927 a radio set was set up in Forbestown in the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Cooney (many of us remember seeing our first TV set but the radio was well established in our lifetimes).

Hope to see you in Brownsville soon. Christine and Yvonne
