News From the Brownsville Bailiwick & Beyond

The brand new anthology, A Bundle of Flowers, from the Backroom Writers is now available at the Books & More for $7.00. A group of writers who enjoy writing, sharing and discussing their pieces produces the anthology. They meet every other Saturday afternoon and read their work. All genres are encouraged and enjoyed. Perhaps you would like to try it.

Yuba Feather Community Services sent out their new quarterly newsletter with an application to join the organization. If you didn't receive one in the mail, there are several at Books & More. It helps when many “hands” are available to help with the work this group does.

There will be no Hill Top Gang Breakfast this month; they will give themselves a holiday from fixing breakfast. Be ready for them to return on January 14. You can get a good hot breakfast, all you can eat for $6.00 is hard to beat.

Christmas shopping season is well underway and we encourage you to shop locally. Many of your friends and neighbors operate businesses in our secluded and beautiful foothill communities and they depend on local business to survive. With the restaurants, gift shops, hardware stores, wineries, hairdressers, bookstore, coffee shop, and much more you could check off everyone on your list. So, before you decide to drive down the hill to shop, check out what there is to offer right here in our own backyard. You can get a list of the local businesses at Books & More.

Hope to see you in Brownsville soon. Christine and Yvonne
