News From the Brownsville Bailiwick & Beyond

Have you had a chance to see the tri-fold flier for Next Step yet? They are in each post office and at Books & More. If you or someone you know is looking for help in taking the “next step” in life's goals, take a look. Or you can offer your help in boosting someone up the ladder to reach their goal.

The Communities Yard Sale at Brownville Mercantile and Books and More parking lots was quite successful and because of that, there will now be a monthly Yard Sale / Flea Market held each month. There is no fee or reservations required for space so just show up with your sales items. The next event will take place on Saturday, May 5th starting at 10am until 2pm. Set up can start at 8am as space is first come first serve. Mark your calendars with these dates for the season: May 5, June 16, July 7, August 4, September 1. Clean out those closets, get busy with your crafting, organize your garage, do some picking and bring your accumulated treasures to sell.

The kids are all back in school after their Easter Break. Watch out for the school buses again and the “little darlings” crossing the roads.

We wish a Happy Birthday to all of you who were born in April. We hope you will have a birthday filled with love and, of course, loads of cake and ice cream.

Look Back in Time – In 1912 the Order of Owls Lodge in Challenge met. They had more than 100 members (Challenge was booming then).

Hope to see you in Brownsville soon. Christine and Yvonne
