News From the Brownsville Bailiwick & Beyond

It looks like our Meals With(out) Wheels program will be starting Nov. 1. If you or someone you know has signed up for this program, meals should be delivered on each Thursday. To receive five frozen meals each week, one must be 60 years or older and be home bound. People who come by on Thursdays can pick up their meals at Ponderosa Community Center. It is possible to have a friend or neighbor deliver meals if we can. We hope to get a vehicle to deliver the meals in the future, but first we need to handle insurance issues.

Brownsville Thrift Shop is beginning to make room for their annual Bazaar and will no longer be able to accept large items until next year. They use their annex during the Christmas season and just don't have room for any large pieces. They do appreciate all of the great donations that come in and are so glad that the community supports our volunteer fire department.

Veteran’s Day is November 11th. It is a day set aside to honor our brave men and women who sacrifice their time and sometimes their health and lives to keep U.S. citizens free and safe. We thank each and every one of them for their sacrifices. As you come in contact with one of these brave people please shake their hand in thanks, for without them we would not be the great nation we are today. God Bless each and every one of them.

Look Back in Time – We wonder if there were droughts 100 years ago like the one we are experiencing now. No rain since when? We all have yard burn piles to be burned.

Hope to see you in Brownsville soon. Christine and Yvonne
