News From the Brownsville Bailiwick & Beyond

The Bookstore Boosters are sponsoring weekly craft lessons on Saturday mornings from 10 to 12. We have had a Mandala group and a beginner knitting group so far. Next on Dec. 8 Jani Beckwith will lead a lesson on making holiday cards. You can personalize your cards, making special ones. On Dec. 15 Krishna Acala will have a Kid's Craft group. Come by and check us out for the next lessons.

On Wednesday, December 12, the Yuba Feather Historical Assn. will hold its annual Christmas party downstairs at the Ponderosa Community Center at 6 pm. It will be a turkey dinner with the board supplying turkey and fixings, so please bring a side dish or dessert. There will some caroling and fellowship to follow. Every year the YFHA has a fundraiser at this party to raise money for a special project at the museum, so come by and eat, chat, sing and help out.

The Ministerial Fellowship, (comprised of the local churches), Mt. Hope and YFCS will be hosting a free community Christmas dinner on Saturday, December 15th at 2:00 pm at the Ponderosa Communities Center in Brownsville. If you are able, please bring a side dish to share. All are welcome so come and enjoy a delicious meal with friends and family. You never know, you may make a new friend or two. Look Back in Time – In 1910 the Rackerby Shakespeare Club met at G. A. Devol's home, while the men played Pedro and cribbage and children played games (sounds like fun).
