News From the Brownsville Bailiwick & Beyond

Did you ever wonder how to decorate a beautiful Ukrainian Easter Egg? In a craft workshop on April 13, Barbara Neely will show us how to create this gorgeous egg called a Psyanky. This craft began at least 2000 years ago and has an interesting history. Call Books & More, 675-3275, for more information.

Where is our Gold Eagle Market? We know it has been raining, it seems forever, but we sure need a market and gas. Hopefully with Spring here, there will be some activity in the lot soon.

Do not miss out on the Spring Fling being held at Books & More in Brownsville on Saturday, April 13 starting at 10:00 am. There will be a bake sale, peddlers fair and the always-popular homemade tamales. They go fast so get there early. Individual tamales are $3.00 each or you can get the lunch for $6.00, which includes tamale, beans and nachos. Yum!! If you are interested in a space for the peddlers fair, the space is free and there is plenty of room for all. Just come and set up your booth. For more information, call Books & More at 675-3275.

The Loma Rica Community Church will be holding their Annual Bazaar on May 17 and 18. Booth space is free and you must reserve your space before April 20. To reserve your space please contact the church office at 530-743-5435. We will post further information regarding this event as it draws near.

Need a car washed? Head over to Foothill Fitness on April 13 for a clean, shiny car. Kids are making money to help get our new Farmer's Market going.

Look Back in Time – In 1909 the Honcut girls baseball team played the girls from Rackerby, followed by a dinner at the Honcut Hotel, then had ice cream and entertainment (we would love to have local baseball teams again).

Hope to see you in Brownsville soon.              Christine and Yvonne
